While i do think this scene is great because it’s prophecy fulfilled, the fremen have spent their entire existence as a culture seeking “paradise”, and they finally see it. water beyond what the eyes can see. However it’s also tragic. Their entire crusade is pointless, seeing all of that water which is sacred to the fremen made some of them realize that their entire jihad was centered around their narrow of their own world, seeing paul as a prophet. The ocean made them realize that the universe was not fixed around their own culture, but a deeply complex and strange universe awaited them. The fremen also lose what made them special in the process. By making arrakis green, they abandoned their desert culture which made them so formidable in the first place. They have become fat and complacent from the spoils of war.

“I had become a sea creature and I frightened him.” I lowkey think this is analogous to Greek history, similarly how the tragedy of the Atriedes bloodline is directly akin to their predecessors, the house of Atreus. Similarly to how Paul’s story is in reference to the Mycenaeans, also around that time in Greece their collapse was a result of some interference from people in the sea. It’s almost ironic how Paul’s ancestors died to tragedy and his bloodline was threatened by invaders that could be depicted as sea creatures, and now millenniums later he’s lead his own people to become such. I don’t know if that makes any sense but idk just some connection I made
