@meant_for_moore: Nobody wants to go back to the darkest places they’ve ever been, but I did and this is what happened. Polyvagal theory poorly explained #nervoussystem #nervoussystemhealing #shadowwork #innerchild #HealingJourney
But what if you don’t know these moments and you cannot pinpoint where exactly your nervous system is stuck at? Because you know it happened somewhere, but I don’t know exactly where

You’re practicing EMDR! This is what EMDR therapy is. Re-Experiencing and rewriting the meaning and reparenting yourself

That part of you that has become frozen as a result of trauma—you should start by acknowledging it and treating it like a longtime friend, even though it disrupts your personality. But if it’s there, it’s to protect you from what it considers harmful, and by loving and understanding it, you can heal it—not by pushing it away from you

Me Again :
THIS. I’m learning to lean INTO the feelings when I feel my fight or flight triggers. That’s the only way I’m finally able to move through it and put it behind me. It’s so uncomfortable and unnatural to how I’ve been programmed my entire life, but I never realized how much I was resisting. I was stuck in a loop of fearing of my own fear. Resisting my own resistance. But when I pause and stop resisting and let the feeling fully peak and run its course, I finally feel better after.

Andrea Works :
Did EMDR with an amazing therapist for a while and recalled early traumatic memories, felt the feelings, described everything in detail, felt hot, shook, sobbed … then in the days after I’d feel high so much peace deeper sleep moments of bliss. After months of this and similar work, my joint pain went away. 4 yrs and counting I don’t have joint issues anymore.

The fundamentals of what you speak of are bang on! I was able to process things stored in my nervous system from over 35 years ago in my childhood through EMDR therapy. It was as if that emotion was just stored there until it was processed.

I UNDERSTAND NOW! I was inserting myself back into other people trauma, and relieving it, for them, that’s why they always ended up feeling better, and I felt so drained. No more. In this moment, you helped me connect a missing fragment of my understanding and consciousness. WOW.

This is also referred to as ‘completing the stress cycle’: intentionally processing and releasing the physiological stress that builds up in your body during a stressful event, to return to baseline

Inset yourself back into the moment and re experience the peak of your activation that puts you into fight or flight or freeze or fawn . Coach yourself through it . Remember to exhale . Ready yourself before hand . Don’t just go in hard mode.

Polyvagal theory has been debunked BUT, it’s more about the mechanisms that it was described as working via. The mechanisms aren’t it, but the outcomes are/might be/are. E.g., EMDR still works.

Im fine with my situations I just feel like I need to control my family's emotions in these situations which keeps me on edge if that makes sense. If they were ok id be ok.

IFS therapy (internal family systems) works like this with parts. Those inner parts get stuck in the trauma environment and now we can go back in and update and provide what it needed
