I honestly see insurance as optional. If I want to be protected from a hurricane … I get house insurance… if I want to be protected from someone who drives like a hurricane … the state says the hurricane-driver has to get insurance. Why? Because it creates a forced/compulsory market under legislation. With this line of thought… states should require hurricanes to be insured. That irrational though… but honestly… if auto-insurance in states that are no fault… why isn’t it one’s option to be or not be insured… that is the question.
