@thats.meow.rescue: Today’s mission: catch one very spicy mama and her two even spicier babies. 🌶️🐈 I knew it wasn’t going to be easy... but I wasn’t prepared for the chaos that followed. Mama was terrified. She climbed the walls, launched herself into the curtains (and brought them down with her 😅), hissed, growled, and did everything she could to escape. Honestly, I was scared too. Seeing an animal that frightened is heartbreaking because you know they’re only trying to protect themselves and their babies. But we made it to the vet, and that’s what matters. ❤️ After thinking long and hard, I’ve decided that once Mama is spayed and has recovered, she will be returned to the colony and hopefully integrate with my cats. She probably has lived her whole life outdoors, or at least the last few months and now she is extremely feral, and I truly believe that’s where she’ll be happiest. Outside. I’ll continue feeding her every single day and making sure she’s safe even if she chooses to go back to the place I found her (which is the old colony location) The babies are around 2 months old now, so they no longer rely on their mum’s milk. They’ll be staying with me as foster kittens while I work on socializing them and finding them the loving forever homes they deserve. 🥹 As much as I wish I could keep Mama too, I have to be realistic. There’s another feral mama with five kittens waiting for my help, and I need to make room so I can rescue them next. Rescue isn’t always about keeping them all. Sometimes loving them means making the hardest decision—the one that’s best for each individual cat.
