Steve Naghavi is a 54 year old Iranian singer and musician who fled his home in Tehran, Iran to Germany in 1980 during the Islamic revolution when he was only ten years old. Years later, he dropped out of high school to become a computer repair man which he found little fulfillment in other than the fact that he could use computers for his true passion: making music. At only 17 years old, Steve saw his idols at a Depeche Mode concert with an opening act from Industrial/EBM artists Front 242 which left a lasting impression on him. Only a little while later, Steve met Chris Ruiz in the Linientreu Nightclub where they befriended each other over their mutual interest in music. Both inspired by Depeche Mode and equipped with nothing more than two keyboards and a beatbox, they formed the Industrial/Synthpop band ‘And One’ under the alias ‘Body Project’ with Steve as the frontman. And One then released their debut song 'Metalhammer' — an industrial electronic melody including a pylon hammer and Islamic prayer, connecting Steve’s Iranian roots to his career from the very start. In 1991 they released their first full album with Machinery Records: 'Anguish’. The band’s work has branched out since and covers many topics of religion, politics, history, love, sex, and more, making their eclectic discussions and melody styles one of their most notable attributes. As of 2024, And One has been in the music scene for 35 years and created hits such as ‘Military Fashion Show’, ‘Steine Sind Stiene’ and ‘Killing the Mercy.’ They have not released a new song in about a decade unfortunately, BUT, that’s about to change very soon. The band is working on releasing a new album with song titles such as: ‘No TV’, ‘Immer Weiter’, and their most hyped one right now, ‘Atomic Bomb’.
