@doryluxury: One thing about us Black foreigners living in foreign countries… we don’t support each other enough. The moment we see another Black woman doing well, instead of asking, “How did she do it?” people start saying, “There must be a white man behind her.” I’ve heard it. I’ve lived it. So let me tell you something. I’m 40 years old. Everything I have today, I built with my own hands. Nobody gave me a business. Nobody paid my bills. Nobody handed me success. I worked for it. I cleaned. I sacrificed. I worked long hours. I learned a new language. I made mistakes. I got back up every single time. Today I own a restaurant in Italy. Not because someone rescued me—but because I refused to give up. And honestly, it hurts that some of the loudest criticism comes from people who look like me. Why is it so hard to believe that a Black woman can be successful because she’s intelligent, disciplined, and works harder than most people will ever see? Instead of assuming there’s a man behind every successful woman, ask yourself why it’s easier to believe that than to believe in her ability. Imagine how powerful our community would be if we celebrated each other instead of competing with each other. Support is free. Encouragement is free. A kind word costs nothing. To every Black woman building something from nothing: I see you. Keep going. Don’t let anyone reduce your success to someone else’s effort. And to those who still think there must be a man behind my success… No. Behind my success are years of sacrifice, sleepless nights, courage, and hard work. That’s my story.
