Great take. As much of a deep love I have of AOT and anime as a genre, I still don’t think it’s the greatest show ever. It is incredible and awe inspiring, but not the GOAT imo 🤷🏾♂️PS listen to the comments and watch Vinland Saga

Genuinely one of the best people to have watched the show. Analysis was insane. Listen, this show to me objectively has to be ONE of the greatest of all time. I’m not gonna argue it’s your favorite bc I understand we have preferences and sometimes nostalgia. Although it undeniably deserves to be one of the top pieces of media we can consume, otherwise your opinion is completely invalid. I’m not talking about op when I say this btw, I just mean in general.

now image watching this show over a span of like 10 years, you'll understand why we think it's the best show ever! the amount of time you have imbetween seasons, even episodes, to think about what is going to happen and than being wrong everytime is so crazy

I think AoT does a great job of transcending the medium and appealing to newcomers but it also has a lot of its inherent flaws. Like you’ve said in your reactions, it tends to over explain sometimes where leaving it would have landed better or in the early seasons where a lot of the exposition would come from unnecessary inner monologues. As someone who has watched a lot, it’s probably a holdover from it being adapted from Manga which has to convey information this way but coming into it freshly I can also see how it can be a little annoying.

When you can stomach it, watch it all again. You realise how much you missed the first time round. Also some bits feel much better. For me the first ep of s4 was super jarring and I hated it first time, second watch I thought it was amazing.

Part of the loop, is to re-watch the series right after. You will realise that there were loose ends that tie up in the successive watches. The journey doesn't end at the first watch, and that is another big twist!

The beauty of Attack on Titan becomes greater when you watch over the series, especially right after you finish it. There are things you will only understand after re-watching. I think when you watch it over, you will love it more.
