@reshgala__: THE 3 THINGS I do to create a packed & thriving organic vegetable garden:👇 1. 🪱 Focusing on soil health I not only add 3” to 4” of compost to my raised beds in fall and spring, but I also side-dress my plants mid-season (sometimes twice in summer) with worm castings or compost. Side dressing basically means adding a handful of compost at the base of the plant around the main stem, and then watering it in. Best natural fertilizer imo. 2. 🌻 Growing a diverse variety of crops Planting herbs & flowers with fruits & veggies creates an eco-friendly, biologically diverse garden that not only invites pollinators & beneficial insects like ladybugs & lacewings, but also creates an insanely gorgeous garden canvas! 3. 🍅 Planting in layers I like to use the thriller, spiller, filler method of planting not just for my ornamental flower pots, but in my vegetable garden too. Think tall, vining plants like tomatoes, cucumbers, peas or pole beans in my middle against trellises, and short, trailing plants like herbs, lettuce, arugula, strawberries, petunias, marigolds, pansies, Swiss chard, kale, onions and basil in the corners and edges of your raised beds. I plant zucchini and melons on the corners of my beds to o & allow them to spill over the sides. There are a lot more tips I’d love to share with you (like companion planting, intensive planting, fertilizing & pest management). If you’ve read this far, thank you! Let me know what you’d like to learn from me by writing in the comments below. Happy gardening! 💚 Xoxo, Resh #learntogrow #beginnergardener #raisedbeds #organicgardening #gardeningtips #DIY
