Also, on the topic of descendants, not only did the spell not last that long before it was washed off, the spell didn’t strip Ben of his autonomy. He was still very much his own person outside of his newfound love for Mal and could make his own choices in regards to their relationship. He was more easily swayed by whomever spelled him, but he still remained fully himself

also growing up, I was confused why in media like Aladdin, Fairly Odd Parents, and Harry Potter, all said you couldn't wish for love. once I was a teenager I realized why, but the movie Obsession really kinda displays the whole reason why, it's basically like spiking someone's drink

Not to mention the other thing about mal's spell on Ben is that it wore off in the enchanted holy water when they went on their date. So all of Ben's feelings about mal post-date were just HIS feelings. he was under the spell for barely 15 minutes

Also another note Bear literally backed out at the end of the movie. He tried to force himself to throw back up the pills, knowing it was the only way for Nikki to escape! The only reason he didn’t is because Nikki made the wish before he could do it. The characters he compared Bear to all did everything in their power to reverse the wish and Bear chose repeatedly not to!

I don’t know why people in the comments keep saying “Bear WAS going to give Nikki the willow” like that isn’t actually worse and the perfect way to show how selfish he is. He decided it was hers and then decided to take it to use for himself.

fantastic video only note I'd make is that Bear did originally buy the willow to give to Nikki, but your point still stands because in doing so he decided to not get something that he knew she would use and want (a crystal necklace) and instead got something HE would have wanted, which shows him already inserting his own wants as hers
