I have followed Hot Mess Homestead for years. She was the 1st chicken/farm/Homestead page that started my love for pages like hers & yours cause I'm a city girl. So glad to see someone like you stand up for her cause she definitely doesn't deserve the hate comments. Mistakes do happen even when things go perfectly & anyone who actually watched & listened to that video could see & hear how much she was hurting from what happened. I can't stand people who want to judge especially when they've never lived a lifestyle even close to hers so they don't know what it's like to take care of so many farm animals. They sit in their air conditioning in their high rise apartment with a dog they pay someone else to walk thinking they know better. Love seeing creators stand up for other creators. 🥰🥰🥰

It was also just horrible bad luck/timing bc it happened on one of the few days she was not out there earlier in the day AND on one of the hottest days of the year. I felt awful for her.

And the fact that she said in her video “I am posting this to educate others” “don’t make the mistake I did”. Like she knew! She blamed herself as much as the door. She took accountability, changed her ways, and educated others!

As a livestock tender for 30 tears…. The statement of “if you own livestock, you own dead stock” is 100000000% the truth. You can do EVERYTHING CORRECTLY and still have accidents, tragedies, and outright FLUKE situations you CANNOT control. And things ALWAYS go wrong when you’re beyond the busiest. People who judge DO NOT truly UNDERSTAND farming/homesteading/raising livestock at all.

I'm a mechanic for dump trucks. shit happens, equipment fails, time and money are lost it all sucks. its all good if everyone can go home at the end of the day and learn from mistakes.

I am a new chicken mom and I'm learning from other's mistakes in hopes that I won't make them myself. I definitely appreciate the honesty. Also, my coop now has a hygrometer that helps me keep track of the temperature inside.

Savannah has always been open about the losses as much as the wins. She didn’t make a mistake exactly, her machinery failed. It’s heartbreaking but it happens. Anyone being mean to her clearly hasn’t lived the life.

she got a follow from me! everyone who owns livestock has lost animals in a way that THEY could have prevented. thats a hard fact of owning livestock. ive always said, just like you did, if you have livestock, you'll have deadstock.
