An old chinese dr i used to go to for chronic pain added one more step : reach behind your back teeth and massage the hinge of your jaw.

My PT did a jaw massage for me once and started with “this is gonna suck, I’m sorry.” And it did suck, but it helped.

When you said to rub upward the first time, I screamed a little, and then when you said, "If this doesn't hurt...", and I was like, wtf, no... but I did this, and it does indeed feel lots better. Thank you!

Thank you for this. I have a partially displaced six over my TMJ. Ironically on the OPPOSITE side to the one I feel the pain. 🤷♀️But they don’t want to treat me given the pain and location mismatch. This is a big help!
