Many crew ship members work 10–12 hours a day, almost 7 days a week, for several months under contract to achieve their dreams and support their families. Some crew members earn at least $800 per month or more, depending on their position. A major advantage is that food and accommodation are provided free while they are on the ship, allowing them to save more. Deductions such as taxes or contributions depend on their contract and the company. One of the great benefits of working on a cruise ship is the opportunity to visit different countries. When the ship is docked and they are on break or off duty, they can go ashore, explore, and experience different cultures.

would be illegal to make people work like this in a lot of countries. lack of break days lead to incidents and accidents. not a clever thing to do in an offshore environment. cruise operators should do better

I know people who have worked on cruise ships. It is very hard work but it’s definitely worth it. Imagine travelling the world and going to places you would never normally see. They do get time off, but not in every port.
