@stephaniecrassweller: Most women over 40 don’t need a more aggressive calorie deficit. They need to understand why the deficit isn’t working in the first place. Because if your body sucks at burning calories, it will store the majority of what you eat as fat REGARDLESS if you’re eating less, moving more, fasting, or cutting carbs. That’s why before I tell a client to eat less, there are 3 things I want to understand: 👉 Is cortisol telling her liver to keep pumping out sugar all day? When stress hormones stay elevated, your liver releases more glucose into the bloodstream. That means higher insulin levels, more cravings, less stable energy, and a body that becomes less efficient at burning calories. 👉 Is estrogen moving through the right detoxification pathways? Every molecule of estrogen in your body must eventually pass through your liver. The liver converts estrogen into different metabolites before it can be eliminated. Some pathways are more protective. Others are associated with symptoms like: ❌ Bloating ❌ Fluid retention ❌ Breast tenderness ❌ Mood changes ❌ Heavy periods ❌ Increased inflammation If estrogen isn’t being processed and cleared efficiently, many women feel inflamed, puffy, and symptomatic no matter how clean they’re eating. 👉 Is she actually producing too much cortisol… or is she just not clearing it? This is one of the biggest mistakes I see. Two women can have the exact same symptoms: ❌ Belly fat ❌ Poor sleep ❌ Fatigue ❌ Anxiety ❌ Stubborn weight loss But one may be producing too much cortisol while the other simply isn’t clearing it effectively. The solution is completely different. This is why we use DUTCH testing with all our clients. Not because hormones are the only thing that matter. But because understanding what your body is actually doing is a lot more effective than blindly cutting calories and hoping for the best.
