Hey y’all i live through Hurricane Helene in 2024 - 16 days no power or water- everything here is good advice. But I really want everyone to keep in mind being prepared helps but knowing your neighbors and caring for each other is the most important thing. Don’t become an alarmist and know you can handle life without power I promise

Buy coffee, tea, soda, booze, and cigarettes and stock up - basically anything with tobacco, alcohol, or caffeine. These are the main things people will want to buy or barter.

Add rotate your preps daily. Get seeds as well as bartering tools get the veggies you don’t eat. Also get solar crank radios for house and bug out bag ready. Know your neighbors and your house in the dark! Have practice drills with code words and try to exercise daily. Remember grey man method blend in and listen don’t talk too much

1st hour of trouble. 1. Write down the exact day time minute it happened. 2 check your breakers in case it is a “you” problem. 3. Phone low light to save. 4 get all water things filled. 5 empty the hot water heater into mugs. 6 full freezer and duck tape it closed. Take pic of your freezer items so you know what you have 7 keep that fuel tank full 8. Pull cash out of the atm within two hours. 9 try for one dollar bills 10.unplug anything with a circuit board 10 a crank/solar power radio and find a good channel 11. Lock and secure the house before dark unplug those garage doors. Park parallel to the garage door protecting the door and your gas tank / secure the door with steel. Have it all ready. Cover all the windows no access of light- contractor bags with gorilla tape. Make sure people can’t get in anywhere.
