He lived a hard childhood, being seen as a monster ever since he became the vessel for the one tail beast. He has two brothers, both ninjas and always following him around, even if afraid of Gaara's lethality, they support the boy. On the left side of his forehead he carved the kanji 愛 (LOVE) to represent his forever-loneliness and that something he can't get: love. Throughout the series Gaara's described as serious and observant, awfully radical and tactical. He sees the reason for his life in the killing, and even if he never thought he'd get it, he deeply craves for love: “If love is just a word, why does it hurt so much when you don't have it?” — Gaara.
