@cocsalvarado: The Best Place to Rest Is Still in God’s Presence. Last night, while the boys and I were hanging out, our conversation unexpectedly went deeper than usual. From random jokes, we found ourselves talking about faith, burnout, church, unanswered prayers, and the different seasons of life. One thing we all agreed on was this: We’re not always strong. We’re not always on fire. We’re not always full of faith, energy, or motivation. And maybe that’s something we don’t talk about enough. Psychologically speaking, that’s completely normal. We’re human. There will be seasons where serving feels exciting, worship comes naturally, and attending church feels effortless. But there will also be seasons where we’re mentally drained, emotionally exhausted, and physically tired. That doesn’t automatically mean we’ve stopped loving God. Sometimes… we’re simply tired. Then someone shared Hebrews 10:25: “Let us not neglect meeting together… but encourage one another.” That verse hit differently. Because if we’re honest, when life gets heavy, one of the first things we stop doing is showing up. We skip church. We isolate ourselves. We tell ourselves, “Babalik ako kapag okay na ako.” But maybe we’ve been looking at it the wrong way. Maybe church isn’t the place we go because life is perfect. Maybe it’s exactly where we need to be when life feels the heaviest. God never asked us to come only when we’re strong. He simply invites us to come. Tired. Broken. Confused. Still waiting. Still struggling. Just… come. Another part of our conversation really stayed with me. We said that we go to church to find rest. To be encouraged. To be reminded of God’s goodness. To be blessed. But let’s be honest… Sometimes, the very people inside the church are the ones who hurt us. And that’s real. Maybe someone judged you. Ignored you. Misunderstood you. Or disappointed you. But then we also realized something. Just as we’ve been hurt by people… There are probably moments when we’ve unknowingly hurt others too. That’s the reality of being human. No church is perfect because no person is perfect. The Church isn’t made up of flawless people. It’s made up of people who are still being transformed by God’s grace. That’s why Scripture keeps reminding us to love one another, forgive one another, encourage one another, and bear with one another. Not because it’s easy… But because we all need grace. Then our conversation shifted to prayers. We’ve all looked at someone else’s life and quietly whispered, “Lord… when will it be my turn?” It’s easy to admire someone’s success. Their career. Their ministry. Their answered prayers. But we rarely see the process that came before the promise. We celebrate the blessing. But we never saw the breaking. We admire the testimony. But we never witnessed the waiting. We’re comparing our current season to someone else’s fulfilled prayer. And that’s never a fair comparison. Then someone said something I’ll probably never forget. “Maybe God isn’t making you wait… maybe He’s making you ready.” That perspective changed everything. Because maybe the process you’re frustrated with today is already part of God’s answer. God isn’t only preparing the blessing. He’s preparing the person who will receive it. One day, you’ll wake up living the exact routine you once prayed for. The job. The ministry. The opportunities. The peace. The ordinary life that once felt impossible. And you’ll smile because you’ll realize… “Lord… this used to be my prayer.” As the night came to an end, one thought stayed with all of us. Keep showing up. Keep praying. Keep gathering with other believers. Keep encouraging one another. Life has seasons. Faith has seasons. People will fail you. You will fail people too. But don’t let imperfect people keep you away from a perfect God. Because at the end of the day, we don’t go to church because everyone there is perfect.
