Watch my body heal itself. When an animal in the wild survives a life-threatening event, it will often shake afterward. Those tremors aren’t a sign that something is wrong, they’re part of the body’s innate way of recalibrating after survival. We have that same intelligence within us. We are nature. The difference is that many of us learned to suppress these natural responses. We hold our breath, stay busy, brace our bodies, and disconnect from what we’re feeling. Over time, our nervous systems become really good at holding on. A year ago, I would’ve thought something was wrong with me as my body started shaking more during moments of stillness, breathwork, or regulation. Instead, I became curious. I learned about neurogenic tremors, an involuntary response that can occur as the nervous system begins releasing protective tension. While research is still evolving, many trauma-informed practitioners recognize them as one way the body can shift out of chronic survival patterns. For me, these tremors didn’t happen because I was becoming more dysregulated. They happened because my body finally felt safe enough to let go. So now I breathe. I don’t create a story around them. I simply trust the wisdom of my body. What follows is always the same, a deeper breath, a softer body, and a quieter mind. Healing isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about creating enough safety that your body remembers what it has always known how to do. Your body is always working for you. #SomaticHealing #NervousSystemRegulation #TraumaHealing #NeurogenicTremors #HealingJourney
