Update 💜 Yesterday was a great day! Our new GI was stunned that nobody has been helping us with our GI needs this far. He was an angel on earth, and sat down and went over the list of concerns I had. We needed him on our team! We came up with a plan together and I’m excited to see how things play out! He has switched Raedyn to a new motility medication that should help with the bloating and move his food through his gut faster and hopefully give him an appetite back! He also has set up a few stool samples to be sure we aren’t missing a type of infection or absorption issues, and we will be doing a scope just to make sure we arent missing anything with the rotated organs he has. He put in a referral for us to get into the Gtube clinic so they can help us manage the Gtube button in general with sizing, leaking, etc. Lasty, he brought on a new dietitian on board who was lovely! We talking about goals for Raedyn long term and I expressed how I would for him to eat more by mouth and less by tube. She fully supported me in this, and our first big move is switching his formula. Right now he is on the simplest powder formula, that’s completely broken down and easy on his gut. So we are transitioning into a more whole food blend. Where they are essentially baby food pouches. This will give his body the opportunity to work “naturally” and break down the foods. We do have to backtrack a bit and will have to slow down his feeds from 16 hours to 19. Reason being is because we don’t want to overload his intestines. If this works after several months we will slowly start trying to introduce these same feeds through his stomach vs his intestines. Giving his stomach the opportunity to break down real foods. I’m excited for this! 🙏🏽 He also gave us a list of foods, and a tube feed regimen if Raedyn has a bad oral feeding day, so we can avoid any low blood sugars. He is also relayingg this message to Endocrinology so they are aware whats happening. We do see them in April. It was a great appointment and praying for a good outcome with all of this 💜 please do all you can so that he gets his life saving surgery link in bio 🙏
