@dimaspstlat252: Explanation: Bro, when we talk about Western philosophy and Eastern philosophy, we're actually talking about two philosophical traditions that developed in different cultural and historical contexts. Now, here's something many people misunderstand—they often think these two traditions are completely opposed to each other. But that's not really the case. Both of them seek to answer the same fundamental questions: Who are we as human beings? What is truth? What is the best way to live? And what is the nature of reality? The real difference lies in how they search for those answers. Now, Western philosophy tends to be analytical, critical, argumentative, and logical. Since the time of Ancient Greece, philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle established a tradition that emphasized questioning, dialogue, and rational debate. According to them, an opinion is not valid simply because it sounds convincing or has been passed down through tradition. Every claim must be examined through logic, evidence, and sound reasoning. That's why, when you read the works of Western philosophers, you'll find clear definitions, logical premises, carefully constructed conclusions, and detailed critiques of other philosophers' arguments. They believed that truth should be discovered through rational inquiry. For example, when a Western philosopher asks, "Does God exist?" they typically construct logical arguments, present premises, analyze opposing views, and draw conclusions based on reason. The same method applies to discussions about justice, freedom, morality, and knowledge. Almost every philosophical question is approached through systematic analysis. This intellectual tradition eventually gave rise to formal logic, the scientific method, analytic philosophy, and many branches of modern science. That's why Western philosophy is often associated with rational analysis and intellectual debate. Now, Eastern philosophy takes a different approach, bro. Eastern philosophy tends to be holistic, intuitive, harmonious, and contemplative. In other words, it views human beings as inseparable from nature, society, and spiritual life. The goal is not merely to determine whether an argument is logically correct, but also whether a particular way of living leads to harmony, inner peace, and wisdom. Take Laozi, for example. Unlike Aristotle, he didn't spend much of his time constructing complex logical arguments. Instead, he taught that human beings should live in harmony with the Dao (Tao), the fundamental way or principle of the universe. According to Laozi, the more people force their own desires upon the world, the further they drift away from harmony. Similarly, Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) did not begin his teachings by attempting to prove complicated metaphysical theories. Instead, he encouraged people to observe their own experiences, understand the nature of suffering, and cultivate wisdom through meditation and self-awareness. Meanwhile, Confucius focused on moral character, healthy human relationships, and social harmony within families and society. However, bro, it's important to remember that these differences describe general tendencies rather than absolute rules. Not every Western philosopher relies solely on logic, and not every Eastern philosopher depends entirely on intuition. For instance, Edmund Husserl's phenomenology places great emphasis on subjective experience, while Nagarjuna employed remarkably sophisticated logical arguments within Buddhist philosophy. Likewise, Avicenna (Ibn Sina) came from the Eastern world geographically, yet his philosophical method was deeply influenced by Greek philosophy and relied heavily on logical reasoning. No, this is just a form of orientalism that gives a sense of allure and curiosity to the East while also degrading it. The East had an array of analytical philosophers, and even the more mystic ones operated under a rigorous framework. Before i give an example, let us take into consideration Kant often praised for his contribution metaphysics -whether one believes them or not. A variety of his concepts and theories such as noumena and phenomena and etc had been explored in a similar fashion by philosopher of advaita vedanta, a school of Hinduism, theorising similar concepts. The philosophy of the East is more rigorous than what the West expects and less mystic than what the west fetishises.

Not really and you should probably do more research if you like philosophy, the east is a very vast umbrella term that encompasses basically any cultural and philosophical traditions outside of europe and many of them built highly "logical" frameworks on their own, ancient India had a five-step sylogism to evaluate the truth of a claim and indian thinkers developed their own frameworks for epistemology to analyze the sources of valid knowledge and around the 13th century they had a school of new logic that addressed abstract problems in semantics and universal properties and this also was present in some buddhist frameworks. Also applies to China, specifically in the warring states period as many thinkers explored the relationship between language and reality which includes famous paradoxes in philosophy like the white horse dialogue and they also had later mohism which was basically a system of dialectics and formal argumentation and classified different types of logical deductions as well as causes and definitions, outside of philosophy in ancient babylon scholars organized medical assessments into empirical systems of axioms and assumptions to systematically rule out variables, many other examples but this was practically some immediate examples and greek philosophy is very favorable but your video is orientalist and has very harmful misinformation

Put an asterisk next to Spinoza. The parallels between his metaphysics and eastern philosophy is striking, more so once you realize he had virtually no exposure to Eastern thought in his life time.

I think a more accurate dichotomy could be represented through a comparison between the catholic and orthodox churches. Latin is a scientific and definitive language, whereas Greek is more philosophical and comfortable with abstraction. This is an unintended consequence of the structure of the language itself, and had developed as such due to unrelated reasons. Anyways, this is why there’s such variance between the nature of church doctrine, as the Eastern Orthodox Church maintains ambiguity on positions whereas the Catholic Church has developed in a more different direction. Obviously, this behavior is also influenced by political conditions under which either institution operated, specifically their role in that politics, but I digress. I think that to call this claim completely incorrect and orientalist is a bit presumptive, but it’s true that it does not present necessary evidence in making such a broad claim. But then again, this is a TikTok video.

i love both. dua-duanya substansial di ranahnya masing-masing. hati dan akal adalah instrumen yang menjadi tools untuk kita menentukan pilihan. dan filsafat barat dan timur adalah metodologis untuk balancing antara keduanya.
