ChatGPT For a $500,000 new home, it is reasonable to estimate that roughly one-quarter to more than one-third of the final price—about $120,000 to $190,000—is associated with government regulations and their indirect effects.

If I’m not mistaken the cost of homes went up 30% during the Biden administration. Which just further supports your analysis.

Additionally, the government is o.k. with housing prices going up, since that will increase property tax revenue. Your thoughts?

I agree, but as a 20+ year Realtor, the low interest rates during a real estate frenzy also contributed because modern people buy based on the payment and out bid up to their maximum, and now they don't want to give up those low interest mortgages and causing lower inventory/supply verse demand
