Yeah I get developer updates and I can tell you with 100% certainty that my phone was capable of reading my mind at least 2 years ago. I saw an obscure piece of music equipment for the first time in my life at a friend’s house. I looked at this thing for about 5 seconds from across the room wondering about its function. My phone was in my back pocket at the time. An hour later when I was warming up my car I decided to scroll my facebook feed and there it was! An advertisement for Hosa knucklebone signal splitter. Like,…..how.

I was sitting in a coffee shop by myself listening to music on my headphones. A girl walked in who I recognized (friend of a friend) and I noticed she had an engagement ring on. She was single the last time I’d seen her so I just clocked it and had a passing thought it was nice to see she’d met someone. My mind chased the bunny trail and I had a blip of a thought wondering what my ex ever did with her engagement ring, then I went right back to reading my book. The next time I opened my phone and for the entire rest of the day, every single ad on my feed for every app was for engagement rings. Zero history of talking, searching, or even thinking about them up until that moment. That’s when I knew we were all cooked.

I believe it. In my first real job out of college my boss was extremely smart, like 160+ IQ allegedly. He developed IBM database tools(DB2 on Z/OS). Anyway, he always talked about micro expressions and wanting to make an app that would analyze people’s micro expressions. I always found it kind of kooky, but he believed it.
