As much as I dislike this, I'm sure Wilder wanted his likeness to continue to make money for his wife and surviving family. I can't say I like it, and tbh an AI voice clone of Gene Wilder seems totally unnecessary when you could just have his voice impersonated by a professional voice actor, and just keep Wonka offscreen. That would be infinitely more interesting and LESS disrespectful to Genes' legacy.
