"If you don’t want to lose the presence of God, stop these five things immediately. Brothers and sisters, prayer is like spiritual breathing. But there are five bad habits quietly weakening your spiritual life. First, praying only when you are in trouble. Many people treat God like an emergency center. When everything is going well, they don’t draw near to Him. But once trouble comes, they start seeking Him. Luke 18:1, KJV says: “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Don’t remember God only when the storm comes. Let prayer become your way of life. Second, being distracted while praying. You pray while scrolling on your phone, or your mind is thinking about something else. God does not want half of your attention. He wants your whole heart. Matthew 6:6, KJV says: “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door…” Shutting the door also means shutting the door to everything that distracts you. Third, praying without consistency. Today you pray for three hours. Tomorrow you don’t pray at all. Spiritual life needs consistency. Colossians 4:2, KJV says: “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Consistency is more important than a moment of passion. Fourth, praying without expectation. You pray out of habit, but you don’t believe God will truly answer. A prayer without faith will slowly become a dead prayer, until all that is left is a religious habit. Fifth, ignoring God’s will. Many people pray only to tell God what they want, but rarely seek what God truly wants. Prayer is not asking God for things. Prayer is communication with God. So don’t only ask God to fulfill your plan. Ask Him to lead you to understand His will. Dear friend, prayer is not a burden. Prayer is authority.
