It makes me laugh all these posts that seem to insinuate that all people in their 50&60 have large pension pots when the reality is alot of us are only going to have a very small work place pension so how about a few posts about people who even though have worked from the age of 16 will have bugger all when they retire !

I'm sure they'd love to retire but of course they aren't confident. In the last five years life has become unaffordable and unpredictable. None of us dare think about retirement because the risks are unquantifiable now.

I get this perspective my pension was worth north of 2 million and I still had anxiety about retiring. It wasn’t until I got hit with an aggressive cancer that I suddenly realised how short life can be, fortunately the cancer is now in remission and I am retired. People have to choose what is right for them, I could have retired at 55 but didn’t until I was 59. You never know what life will throw at you, plan is if you will live forever but live life as if the next year could be your last
