I tried these in my photography class. To properly use it you have to coat the entire page with the cyanotype solution, then you put something on it to create an imprint. A leaf, some flowers, anything like that. Cover it with some plexiglass so it stays flat, and wait a day or so for it to develop. The chemicals in the cyanotype solution reacts with the UV rays from the sun, and the object blocks those rays so the silhouette of the object remains white, and the surrounding area turns blue.
