@calledtomarriage: 3 things Psalm 1 taches our kids (and parents too😊) 1. Choose your friends wisely. "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly". Who your kids sit with shapes who they become. 2. Love God's Word, don't just endure it. "His delight is in the law of the Lord" (v.2). Not a chore. Esteem the wisdom of God through the Bible. That's on us as parents. We can't just hand our kids a Bible and say "read it", or sit them in front of the TV to watch a so-called kid-friendly Bible show and call it a day. We have to disciple them into delight; modeling it, talking about it with wonder, not just discipline. A child who only sees duty will grow up dutiful. A child who sees delight will grow up hungry. 3. Deep roots make good fruit. It's as simple as that. "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water". Roots first, then fruits follows. Don't be obsessed with building a superstructure on a weak foundation. Train your child on the solid rock; Christ, then build on (in) Him.
