Friend doesn’t actually always leave Kris at 1HP, they deal damage based on the sell value of the first item in your inventory. This tends to be more than Kris’s health so they end up getting left at 1HP a lot of the time, but not every time!

i like to add on to this, in the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game you get a trophy by beating each chapter and requirements say "beat the chapter without issue" but if you get the egg in a chapter you won't get the trophy for beating said chapter meaning that the egg is considered an issue
