one of the issues is.. you cant tell anything ab characters from their character design. looking at navia, you can tell very well who she is, and in the details even stuff ab her work and home and past. however never characters dont communicate anything about themselves with the way they look

idk when people will realize they make designs based on what will sell good, the reason why it’s all repetitive is because they keep selling, look at emilie’s she doesn’t follow the same cookie cut design but her sales weren’t good, and look at escoffier, both are in the same boat when it comes to being relevant to the plot of genshin and not having a universal kit, it’s just the design that’s different and escoffier has a higher ownership rate compared to emilie, do i think this is the entire reason? no but a good example to look at

navia among maybe a handful of other characters pulls off the detached sleeves/bare shoulders so well. issue is not that design choice but just that its in every design regardless of if it fits it or not😭

they do have some creative designs still, but they don't balance as well. alot of the newer designs are very top heavy with nothing to balance them on the legs

her overall design is unique, cohesive and pretty (though prettiness is subjective) along with being distinguishable and having a very different silhouette to every other character in the game. newer characters lack that

I recently saw honkai Nexus anima design and i know some of the character is from hoyo other game but i also see some female character have detached sleeves and hsr also have that similar too but they add more detail and i just realize it was hoyo problem.
