@monksnaturals: In 1967 a study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine that cleared sugar of its role in heart disease and pointed the finger at fat instead. It shaped decades of dietary guidelines across the Western world. And it was funded by the sugar industry. Nobody disclosed that for over 50 years. The documents were uncovered in 2016 by researchers at the University of California San Francisco. The Sugar Research Foundation had paid Harvard scientists the equivalent of $50,000 in today's money to publish research that reached a conclusion the industry had already decided on. The Sugar Association itself later said it should have been more transparent. The full picture is more nuanced than a simple conspiracy. Fat genuinely was considered the primary dietary risk factor by many independent scientists at the time. But funding research designed to reach a specific outcome without disclosing who paid for it — that is not disputed. The low fat era that followed may have made things significantly worse. When fat was removed from products sugar was added to replace the flavour. We ate less fat and more sugar and called it healthy. Industry funded research is still shaping what you eat today. The funding is just harder to trace now. Read the back of everything. Not the front. The front is marketing. The back is information. We built MONKS because we wanted a sweetener with nothing to hide. Two ingredients. Both readable. Both beneficial. Link in bio. #foodindustry #sugar #nutrition #guthealth #cleaneating
Its the margarine, seed oils, wheat modified and artificial sweetness aspartame, corn syrup, citric acid.Things which should not be in our foods that are the culprits. Companies sponsored research for their own agenda. let's go back to real food which our grandparents ate.
