Being able to just randomly do this for your friends is such a blessing - I’m sure local women’s shelters would be so grateful for any donations

There are so many things people tell you before you have a baby. Pack your hospital bag. 👜 Freeze some meals. 🍝 Install the car seat. 🚗 Sleep while you can. (As if that’s a thing. 😅) And sure, all of that matters. But looking back, none of it is the advice I actually needed. What I needed was someone to look me in the eye and say… You’re probably going to wonder if you’re doing any of this right. You’re going to cry over things that don’t make sense. Sometimes because you’re overwhelmed. Sometimes because your hormones are all over the place. Sometimes because the baby finally fell asleep and your nervous system finally let go. You might not recognize yourself for a while. Not because you’ve disappeared. Because you’ve changed. And change takes time to understand. There will be moments when you miss your old life and feel guilty for missing it. You can love your baby more than you’ve ever loved anything… and still think, “This is so much harder than I imagined.” Those thoughts don’t cancel each other out. Please don’t wait until you’re completely falling apart before asking for help. ❤️ Let someone hold the baby while you shower. Say yes when someone offers to bring dinner. Wake your partner up. Call your mom. Call your friend. Text someone and say, “I’m not okay today.” You don’t have to earn rest. You don’t have to prove how strong you are by carrying everything alone. And one more thing… The version of you that existed before birth isn’t gone. She’s still there. She’s just learning how to exist alongside this new version of herself. That takes time. So if today you’re in the thick of newborn life, surviving on cold coffee, one-handed meals, and 90-minute stretches of sleep… I hope you give yourself more grace than criticism. You’re recovering. You’re learning. You’re becoming. That’s enough. If someone had told me all of this before delivery, I don’t think postpartum would have been easier. But I do think I would’ve been a little less surprised when it felt so incredibly hard. And sometimes, knowing you’re not the only one is the thing that helps you keep going. 🤍 #mom #baby #MomsofTikTok #momtok #momlife
