Most of those pre workout and post workout powders are loaded with sugar.😔

I feel that most people don’t realize that all carbs = glucose, which spikes insulin. So continually consuming lots of carbs, including but not limited to simple sugar, is going to stress the body’s insulin response. The fat on one’s body isn’t what causes diabetes.

Diabetes is to do with sugar. You being a gym person won’t stop you from getting diabetes. You’re eating foods that are high in saturated carbs, sugars etc. a lot of these “gym foods” have so much sugar

I think diabetes also has a link with stress and even working out too much can spike cortisol which also affects insulin

Maybe you were over training? The chronic stress may have kept your blood sugar high, along with the energy drinks that helped you push more at your gym workouts…

Were you taking protein powder supplements? Some of them contain heavy carbohydrate loads per scoop besides the protein. That could have been the reason. The whey isolates are best.

I became pre diabetic from working out dude. I had to sit back and reassess my life style. The hot flash, the random lightheaded and the fast metabolism, I was shocked 😳

That’s really interesting it don’t make no sense to me cause u were so lean. Did they make u do a dna test to see if it’s one of those rare diabetes types like MODY?

so, when my GP keeps telling me that I need to lose weight/fat to improve my diabetes when I am 5.5 tall and 65kg. around 18 - 20% body fat, it probably won't make a difference?
