Left leg simulates standing up position to an extent. If you practice something over and over on your right leg, it will be difficult to readjust when you’ll play standing up.

I’ve used classical position so long it’s super uncomfortable and awkward trying to play with the guitar on my right leg now.

Left leg for the win. Been playing the classic position for allmost 16yrs now. I always give the left leg info whenever I see someone playing with Guitar resting on right leg. Left leg position makes it Able to move over the neck of the guitar better

i sweep pick in the casual position because i prefer to have the strings perfectly horizontal but everything else i use classical

And also it will be in the same position when you then play standing, lots of people struggle to play standing so it’s good to help with muscle memory
