for context on the bigger picture: FBI data shows homicides are overwhelmingly intraracial, yet Black-on-White killings outnumber White-on-Black in absolute terms. In 2019 (detailed FBI Table 6): • Black offenders killed 566 White victims. • White offenders killed 246 Black victims. Per capita (Blacks ~13-14% of population, Whites ~60% non-Hispanic): A Black person is roughly 7-8 times more likely to kill a White person than the reverse. This pattern holds across years. Black homicide victimization/offending rates are also ~6-8x higher overall. We can mourn every victim—Nolan and the thousands of Black victims killed mostly by Black offenders (~88-90% intraracial)—while facing the full data.
