not so fun fact but after they treated him for his cataracts (which he declined at first btw) and he saw his paintings, he destroyed a lot of them because of dissatisfaction!

he was also inspired by Turner when he fled France, and became one of the first European impressionists. lets not push fake narratives, he might have starting losing sight but most of these were intentionally vague as he and other French artists were actively defying empirical norms and academism

Probably in a way one of the best things hes done is when he goes nearly blind because you know hes extrapolating the main essence of what he is looking at. Even if you cant tell what it is, you can begin putting more on top to transform it on how you interpret it. Like- the foundations.
