@fit.mom.carlyn: The way boys relate to each other at school is different than the way girls do. This is a fundamental part of boys fitting in socially at school. #christiantiktok #school #boys #parents #teacher

Fully agree!!! My oldest son wasn’t naturally athletic, but he did sports all through school until he graduated. We let him switch sports often until he found what he liked and he could do.

😭😭 I agree. My son just went through almost three years of cancer treatment for leukemia. He started 7th grade last year after being homeschooled during treatment, and he’s had a heck of a time making friends. Breaks my heart because he used to live to play basketball, but now he’s just not physically able to keep up with the other boys athletically after everything his body has been through. And at this age, SO much of how boys connect seems to revolve around sports. It’s been really hard watching him try to figure out where he fits now. We do still have him in guitar lessons and dad is starting him at the gym so hopefully that helps🤞

also dont put your kids in a box. saying your child doesnt like sports or is not athletic is contributing to their limiting beliefs about themselves and it might be just they havent found something in the area of sports that they enjoy yet

I feel like no one ever talks about this and I love that you do. People need to talk about social skills more often.

My son is on the spectrum. SO I knew over a decade ago that he needed something/ sport he could do alone. He liked tennis. But he LOVED skateboarding. He is an adult now and is a skateboard photographer. I’m so proud of him ! You are absolutely right. ❤️

Athleticism continues to be important for mens social structures into their 40s, and I’d imagine beyond that too. Lifelong skill

My son is autistic and really struggled with running, jumping, catching, and balancing. We put him in physical therapy to help with gross motor skills. People think physical therapy is only for people who are unable to walk, but no. It is therapy for these gross motor skills too!

“im not telling you its right im telling you its how it is”. That is so real because there is so many comments of parents basically saying because they don’t like the whole “popularity” or “fitting in” system that that’ll let their kid be a lonely loser…

How about teaching your children not to judge other kids by their athletic ability. The fault here starts at home, not a child’s athletic ability. Weird!

My son is not athletic but he is silly so that’s how he’s making friends while trying to play with them 🤣

My son is autistic and baseball has been so helpful for emotional regulation! He’s come so far In a year just be patient! Outside sports has helped him academically!

This is so good and accurate. We tried several sports before we found the one he excelled at and he became known as the “fast kid” in elementary and middle

UK here work with younger kids and have two of my own and completely agree. Quirky is fine when they have athletic ability. Football (soccer) teams are very close knit and ‘yeah that’s David, he’s a bit weird but he scores loads and he’s ours so back off’ can save a child from bullying as they go through school. Definitely facilitate something that’s team driven and lets them show their ability. It can even be a ‘quirky’ sport like parkour, but get them into one that they’re good at

People are too sensitive. She is saying the reality a lot of people are too scared to say out loud. If you have boys- get them outside playing, learning how to run/play with coordination. This helps with making friends. Nothing wrong with being truthful.

My parents denied the school pushing me into the gifted program for YEARS due to the social implications of it from K to 4th. I did every sport under the sun those years instead. When I finally committed to cheerleading and had a group of friends, then they let the school put me in gifted. Sports change things drastically.

I’m a college student and not a mom, although I hope to be one day when I’m older. But I love watching your videos because this is the type of advice you don’t see people talking about, but it is actually so important for setting your kids up to be socially successful. Which honestly goes hand in hand, a lot of times, with success in general.

My son has never liked sports. Tried football, cricket, basketball. Now he’s found cross fit. So keeping fit in the gym. Learning to lift weights. if your child doesn’t enjoy team sports.. this may be an option
