All the comments saying "parts are tricky these days" and "but there's 6 different model types of certain cars" are wholly ignorant. It's as easy as the parts dept seeing multiple applications for a vehicle and just asking the mechanic "what's the rotor OD?" or "What's the prod date" or whatever relevant info they need. We'd much rather give then that info than have the wrong shit and not be able to do the job, or have to wait on correct parts for no damn reason

when a 4.0 v-6 Tacoma comes in for a oil change and they give me the wrong oil filter. they end up saying it’s the right one and, tells you are wrong. then I tell them where does this cartridge filter go then I need a spin on filter.
