Iranian here, first thing that’s incorrect: shah was not dictator in his time. Study people and power structure by their time. Obama could be a dictator in the next 50 years.. maybe. Who knows? You get my point. Regulations, freedom, democracy are a dynamic system and change over time. People love to compare the shah of Iran to the powerless and symbolic kings of today. That’s totally a wrong comparison of two different systems and structures.

Just to clarify not every Iranian is persian, Iran includes many ethnic groups, including arabs, kurds, baloch, azeris, lurs, and turkmen, there are also families of Iranian origin who have lived in arab countries like Kuwait and Bahrain for generations and are considered part of the local arab communities, matter of fact southwest asia is one of the most interconnected regions in the world, shaped by centuries of migration, trade, shared histories, and cultural exchange, unless you have spent time in the region or have close friends and family from there, it can be difficult to understand how complex and overlapping these identities are, unfortunately media representations often oversimplify the region and fail to capture the reality of how people see themselves and each other

Pretty great explanation (Persian here 👋) but I think you missed a massive piece of the puzzle here. Mosaddegh’s nationalization of Iranian oil not only fuels the US/British ire, but it is so representative of the Iranian drive to not be controlled by outsiders. You also cannot underscore the fallout of the US arming Iraq in the 80s, flight 655, etc. it’s decades of distrust.
