My son is now 18. No gentle parenting over here. If my kid acted up in any public space, we immediately visited the restroom for a reset, and if that didn't work, we left. I would never inconvenience other people.

I 100% agree with this… to a point. I’m an experienced mum of 3 but my youngest has ASD. Most of the time he’s fine but there is a certain amount of unpredictability that comes with him. He wouldn’t break something but could make noise if something sets him off. Changing how I parent isn’t going to fix that.

The only reason I think anybody considers it controversial is because a lot of parents go places and expect everyone else to take care of their kids, especially environments that are not specifically child care places like restaurants.

My kids were taught how to behave in public since they were toddlers. It’s part of learning how to be a person in society.

Today I was at a Dim Sum place and a table with several teenagers and they got so loud until the manager went over and screamed at the parents. They were removed shortly afterwards. It was so ridiculous.

I’m like the Bay Area! Let’s go there for dinner! And then I remember that I live in Marin and that’s about a 2 hour drive which is a bit much for dinner.

Totally agree. When my kids were little I used to take them to fast food and mall food courts to learn restaurant etiquette by the time they were 5 that could sit at a 5 star restaurant with ease

Kids can learn restaurant manners. They must be parented. The wording could be altered as it isn’t the child’s fault. Should be called something like Parebts Neglecting their children Will be asked to leave.After you pay the bill of course.
