Offer to numb the area before inserting the IV. My nurse did this and it was a total game changer for me.

I ALWAYS ask the patient if they have had an iv and even if they say yes we talk about it (usually I make fun of myself about how before I was a nurse I thought the needle stayed in). I will happily waste a catheter every time to show them how it works and how flexible the tube is. It’s worth it for them to feel comfortable and relaxed

I am super scared of needles but it’s actually just the process of it going in…once the initial pinch is done it’s fine but from storage to my arm is when I cry

I had a pt in custody pull out their IV while walking, the cops freaked out and slammed the pt onto the ground on their neck all like “where’s the needle, did you get stuck!?!” Like y’all plz 🙄 go into the waiting room or something while we take them to CT now

I don’t mind needles but the air left in the tube of IV cared me. I was panicking but obviously I’m still alive or maybe I just a very manifested ghost 🤷🏻♀️
