I think it’s explicitly because we see him interacting with Assad more. Because when he’s with Lestat, on his own, or with Louis, it’s fine. I think maybe Assad’s acting is just Too Good 😭

He's got a very specific range that he's very good at, basically Anthony Bourdain. He can do Anthony Bourdain if he's a senator. Anthony Bourdain if he's a district attorney. And Anthony Bourdain if he was a journalist. I think Rolin probably pitched season 3 Daniel as kind of being a bit of a teenager. He's got all this energy he didn't have before, suddenly everything is a lot more intense, and he can do pretty much whatever he wants to. I don't think Eric knows how to portray that as an 80 year old man. Love the guy, but he's just got to stick to his regular Anthony Bourdain schtick.

I agree and I think it’s only partly Eric’s fault. He would have to be doing miracles for his dialogue to not sound stupid.

I think we just haven’t seen him have any like emotions beyond sarcasm so when he does try it it feels kinda cringy, especially with the dialogue they are giving him too.
