i mean two things can be true. it can both be true that america have enabled and promoted the conditions we see today, but that the oppression afghan women face is now carried out by the taliban whom we must condemn. anyone who absolves the taliban of guilt only blaming the west is wrong in the same way anyone who absolves the west of guilt only blaming the taliban is wrong. there is some nuance but inshallah the situation will get better and the protests in herat last month brought me some hope ❤️

LITERALLY. So frustrating, they think that just because they’re Muslim they have to defend the talibs and any other Muslim that’s ‘fought’ the west. My Afghan sisters weren’t dying during childcare under the previous gov where we had access to healthcare, now we have one of the highest maternal mortality rate in the world.
