@visual.healthlab: Is Artificial Disc Replacement better than Spinal Fusion? The answer depends on your spine condition, MRI findings, and your surgeon’s evaluation. Unlike spinal fusion, Artificial Disc Replacement is designed to preserve movement, which may help some patients maintain flexibility. Have you had Spinal Fusion or Artificial Disc Replacement? The problem that doctors don’t tell you in the long-term that disc replacement which is a wonderful method eventually the type of silicon type soft plastic between the two titanium discs wear away and eventually it will fuse together like an infusion

Mine wasn't a bad disc. My L5 had moved forward in the spine. Hence a fusion was done.

I’ve had both. 2 discs and fusion. The pain I had before this procedure was debilitating and I also suffered with severe muscle loss in my entire right leg and numb / drooping toes. 2 years recovery, learning to walk again, the pain is gone, muscle is back but if I do too much, everything is very stiff and painful but it’s better than the alternative I faced 24/7 before surgery .

Had a spinal fusion in 2019- my nerve damage healed as I had foot drop for 6 months. I do get a sore back time to time. But I hang everyday to decompress my spine and live a good life
