I did a Pap smear last year and, meanwhile I was undressing myself, the nurse and the doctor (a middle aged woman) were talking about the lady before me, saying that having hair in your private area is disgusting. I told them how unprofessional and rude was their behavior and I reported them. At the end of the day, most of the people who work in the healthcare industry are mean and have zero empathy or respect towards patients

I tried to end my life, and ended up in an induced coma and intubated in the ICU for days. A few weeks later i had a recollection of a memory of after I was taken off life support. I remember that people were attempting to put a bed pan under me so I could go number 1 or 2, and they were making inappropriate comments and laughing about my hair that’s on my private parts. Was a very distressing memory and I did make a complaint to the ICU ward but I obviously had no clue who these nurses/doctors were. Very upsetting to know that happened when these people know I tried to end my life. Very upsetting….

When my brother was born he had a very low chance of survival, he was very premature as well. My parents hadnt left the hospital for a long time and then one day when my brother needed yet another surgery the doctors had told them to go out into town and get some air. One of the nurses said to my parents and I quote "I wouldn't buy clothes for him if I were you, just buy shoebox you can bury him in" My mom said she could have committed murder that day. Like who says that to anybody.

I had a miscarriage last year in January and I went to the ER and the nurse that took my blood said “it’s okay, you’re young you can have more” “unlike me I’m old and I lost one” like ma’am I still lost my baby it still fxcken hurts no matter the age.

When I was little, around 7 years old, I had to stay in the hospital for a while because of pneumonia and a severe infection. I overheard the nurses making fun of my teeth, and I developed a huge insecurity about them afterward. I remember thinking that if people could make fun of my teeth while I was struggling just to breathe, then my teeth must have been absolutely horrible

I had two nurses saying that I was faking how I was feeling and how I was taking up valuable emergency department space and giving me death stares from the station then ended up going into all organ failure and an induced coma for 6 weeks I still remember their faces 😭

when i woke up from surgery, i had no clue where i was for a few minutes, so i just instinctively crossed my feet and the nurse ran over to me, smacked my foot off and told me to sit properly or she’ll hold my foot down. she then complained because i kept taking too deep of breaths and the machine would beep at me and she kept telling the other nurses that im young and not able to breathe, assuming i was a lifelong smoker or my weight was the issue, which it is definitely not, and then came to yell at me about my breathing and weight asking why i cant just cooperate. mind you i was awake for 5 minutes at this point. they refused to give me my glasses too for half an hour so i couldn’t see, i was confused, ofc i wasn’t going to breathe and be happy right away lol. nurses are mean girls.

When my cousin was born he had spina bifida and the doctor told my aunty ’don’t get attached to it, it’ll die soon’. My cousins thriving in his 40s now and my Pop knocked the doctor out 🙃

All I will say is that working in healthcare, compassion fatigue is real, we get worked really hard and have to extend ourselves to so many people. I would hate for any of my patients to overhear me venting, but sometimes I gotta vent about some of the ridiculous requests. I’m a social worker and some of the requests people (patients and coworkers) make of me are WILD.

I went to the hospital once because I was in alot of pain in my pelvic area, which is normal for me but this time it was 100 times worse, I have a history of PCOS and I thought maybe a cyst ruptured or something else was wrong. I heard a nurse talking to someone else, maybe another nurse about "the fat girl who's drug seeking" I didn't even want pain meds, I just wanted to know what was wrong. 😔
