I don't tip on the total, but on time spent * rounds served * quality of service. And if I get free stuff, +50% of whatever that item normally costs.

There are actually several well known hospitality studies showing that small, unexpected gifts can increase tips, largely because of the psychological principle of reciprocity. people naturally feel inclined to return a favor.

I work in a restaurant in a casino and gamblers have discount cards, you think that people who get 75% off their entree would tip more because they are saving so much money but no! They give you like $2 😭
