We are finally saying goodbye to River’s binky 😭🥹 it’s a very bittersweet moment because it means he’s growing up, and he’s no longer a baby anymore 💙 But I wanted this experience to be a happy moment for him, so I kept everything positive, while drawing attention to the things that he DOES get to have rather than focusing on what he DOESN’T get to have anymore. When communicating this process to him, I kept my tone and words simple, so that he would be able to understand exactly what was happening. I think it helped him feel more involved and included in this process, instead of it just being me taking something away from him. This is Pumpkin. On rescue day, I drove off with two rescued puppies and when I looked back I noticed another one. Notice his reaction when I said “Excuse me.” 😮 We almost forgot their sibling. What a close call! I named him Pumpkin and he’s obsessed with me since this day we met. 🙏🏾 I’m in tears sending swallowing the reality that I almost missed pumpkin! He’s now a permanent resident at the sanctuary and we’re in the process of getting his vaccines redone. Pumpkin is also in need of heartworm prevention, food and treats if anyone would love to support his care at the sanctuary.
