This just happened to me and thank God I had a aunt step in and tell me it was fraud before I attempted to cash it. This is so scary and something should be done to the fake accounts posing as companies not the innocent victims being targeted

Omfg when I almost fell for a scam like that. The hiring manager said they were sending me a check for $9,525.00 for office equipment for my remote position. 😏 Sure. Two days later fedex shows up and gives me a check for that amount... I went straight to the police and took my ring camera and sure enough the check was fake but the police wanted me to do their job and get a physical photo of this company's executive tree and other inter officer junk. I said how much you paying me. They said I should do it as a good citizen. Nope

I knew a couple of people that got scammed by fake companies that sent them checks for equipment. They never deposited the check but called the police. Thank GOD!
