@reginapfelangie: Like forensics? Me too because it’s full of super cool, very interesting processes and techniques! Dusting for fingerprints is one of the most simple things that we do, but it’s so important! And you’re always seeing those fluffy brushes on TV, but there’s another brush and another kind of powder called magnetic powder. In this video, I am going to develop fingerprints right before you’re very eyes! #forensictok #forensicscience #fyp #crimelab

I have a question, I have heard that some places need or recommend going to police college after getting a forensics degree from a university. Is this really necessary?

Hi! sorry this may be a dumb question, but if you use the magnetic powder on one case , can you use it on another? and if you do doesn’t it pick up the prints from the last one?

My grandparents home got broken into once, but apparently the forensic team that rampage after that was worse according to my granma. The entire house was a mess. Black powder over the entire house, on the walls, the ceiling. Lose powder in the carpeted floor and every nock and cranny. Granma tracked the black powder trail like a blood hound, rag and cleaner in hand. They got in through the roof, the window still slightly open. They found their ransacking way thought the entire house, opened every cupboard and closet, ripped cushions on the floor, but finally to the fridge. Black powder even in the fridge. my Granma just in tears trying to get the stuff out of everything, cursing to high hells asking if the forensic team let a gaggle of apprentices run wild, if they used leaf blowers instead of brushes, if they used explosives too get the powder really absolutely everywhere. Im sure the raccoon never ate better in their entire life, grandma's cooking was the best

As a forensics student personally I prefer magnetic powder over the regular carbon powder

When swiping the powder does it cause the print to smear?

But now I wonder, is there any way for the powder and the brush to get contaminated from a scene? Can that tamper with results? Is the brush ever cleaned? How? I have so many questions

I had this thought just yesterday so this is great haha 😅 What's the point of finding fingerprints? it's not like the government has everyones fingerprints just saved

Does the powder interact with oil residues from the hand? I’m curious about the chemistry behind it :)

This is gonna sound really weird, but could we possibly chat about how to get into forensics? I have been trying to get into forensics all around PHX and I haven’t been able to get anywhere! Would love any pointers on how to progress to this field from my current one!
