@theartcoach: Tap the link in my bio to start the drawing drills Grass is one of those subjects that looks chaotic… But it isn’t. When it’s far away, you’re not drawing individual blades. You’re drawing groups of them. A few simple double strokes that taper to a point are all you need to suggest an entire field in the distance. As the grass gets closer, the rules change. Now each blade has thickness. Instead of thinking about lines, think about little ribbons bending, twisting, and overlapping one another. Then use the negative space between those overlaps to separate the layers and create depth. That’s really the secret to drawing nature. You don’t memorize every plant. You learn the simple forms that nature keeps repeating.
