China is so much better than the west. In the UK you'd be lucky to get an appointment and then told its just a virus and wait 2 weeks to see if it's bacterial.

I lived in China for 5yrs, as an American a tension I didnt realize I carried until the first time I got sick, went to get treatment and when I had to pay it was the equivalent of $20usd and that tension left me...it was a background foundational worry I had always had, bc cost of healthcare and anxiety around it is so ubiquitous

What really sticks out to me is how they didn't make you sit alone for hours. It seems like you had company at a time when it might be scary to be alone. It almost looks like you're all just hanging out while you're getting your transfusion. In the US it's like you're livestock being moved through the system with as little interaction as possible
