not a dig I promise - but one of the key differences I've noticed with nurses vs paramedics other than scope and setting is there's a level of decision paralysis that comes with nursing; they want to act with sure data, lab values, imaging - all good things, but in true emergencies lots of action needs to take place in the patients best interest without a ton of solid clinical data.

I am 30 days away from graduating nursing school and I continuously say that the things that my paramedic classmates do in the field are unbelievable. And when we at clinicals and the nurses acting like they don’t want them , I’m like 🤭are you sure mamas?

We run our own codes, hang pressors as needed, interpret our own 12 leads, and perform our own stroke assessments. I can sedate and intubate, draw labs then administer antibiotics for sepsis, and administer blood. All with standing orders, meaning I don’t need a dr to tell me to do it. I love my job!
